35 Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets
Matthew 22:37-40
You may be wondering what 3-factor authentication is going on here. A trivial understanding of this may put you at the risk of losing your faith in Quora or on the lap of Delilah—oh sorry, I mean that philosophy class. There are three unique ways we connect to God, and I call it the real God password. On these lies the fate of what we call true spirituality. The Lord impressed this subject in my heart while revealing that text. It's mind-blowing considering I barely understood what 2-factor authentication was. Once I sought to find a technical copy for 3-factor authentication, I stumbled on 1Kosmos; as if the parallels were waiting for my arrival.
The factors used in 3FA usually fall into at least one element of three categories: knowledge-based (something you know), possession factor-based (something you have), and inherence-based (something you are)
1. The primary way we connect to God is emotionally (sensationalism); that’s our entry point to salvation. He bids for our heart first before the confession of our mouth follows. Salvation is a love story; love stories don’t survive in our heads but in our hearts. For with the heart, one believes and is justified, and with the mouth, one confesses and is saved. Romans 10:10. it’s dangerous to stay on this 1-factor authentication level; it poses high-level security dangers. This applies to the largest census of people, and I find that a bit of an unsafe trend—they like their goosebumps but detest corrective doctrines. They are more in harmony with worship songs that make them cry than scriptures that makes them sound. Their prayer life is wired on a mood console, and the spirit of God would be operated under their preference. They like to stay milky
14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Hebrews 5:14
Suppose you love the lord with all your heart and leave part of your soul; I doubt your mind would be in optimal spirituality. You take offense for Jesus; you lack the tools and expressions to defend.
2. The second level we connect to God is intellectually (rationally)... “with all your soul, and with all your mind’’. On this level lies the defense of your faith. As knowledge covers the seas, people have become increasingly curious to look up almost any information on anything—easily at their fingertips. You would have to deal with questions that challenge the validity of doctrines, jab your sweet father in the lord, and many of them might push you off the edge. Even makes you agnostic for a while, leaving your love commitments as the compelling force helping you seek objective answers for a stronger comeback. Though many fall-aways happen here. These faith crises are real threats to our spirituality, and the best of us encounter them at one point or another. It’s a design the lord permits in the validation of spiritual maturity. None of these connections can survive independently of the other without the risk of losing its authenticity. They have been divinely equipped with bail-out potential to keep the essence of your spirituality running optimally. The risk of merely staying on this level will be struggling with the simplicities of God. What simple obedience to faith would have delivered to you ends up being a rational tussle that delays the move of God. They would rather suffer a sickness in the name of Christ than be healed in the same name. It’s easy for people in this category to fall under what I presume are modern-day Pharisees. Doctrines and discipleship are very important, yet personal revelation is the game changer. You can ask Apostle Paul.
3. The first two are precursory to the third, which is by revelation. Aren’t you amazed at the way the spirit of God puts a different light on scriptures you have been reading all your life?
And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself – Matthew 22:39.
This is a revolutionary piece for the first category that thinks they know love and the second that thinks they know all about God. This kind of God’s love is not natural; it is encountered. It becomes more real by the experience of walking in it. You must know him to walk in it.
He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 1 John 4:8.
Interestingly, we are ushered into this level by the first two levels (or factor authentication); however, this level preserves the safety of your spirituality.
Inherently, emotional people find staying on level 1 more natural; people who are knowledge seekers find level 2 more natural, but level 3 is often an active engagement of the two levels. This level emphasizes ‘something we are.’ Here our spirituality goes beyond something we know or something we have. It's not an empty zeal or a holier-than-thou demeanor but a working grace revealed by revelation of the Word and a word-backed supernatural encounter. God’s love eases the sanctity of our world, and I don’t mean that for wordplay. It makes our spiritual profession graceful. God can never be limited to a denomination; luckily for us, we are the ones who need to understand a perspective of him with the help of our current denomination.
For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away.
1 Corinthians 13:9-10
Are there doctrinal corrections to be made on the first two levels? Absolutely. although in love. Imagine you were stuck somewhere on the first level or second level, and someone who has been graced with a better revelation was correcting you. Wouldn’t you like for it to be in love?
By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35
What about false doctrines and prophecies masquerading on these levels?
Doctrines are not built from one error, though they set the rhythm. It must have a teaching aid before it can pass for a doctrine. If the teaching aid is flawed, it's a false doctrine. St. James admonished us not to be all teachers. False doctrines are propagated by false teachers, whilst false prophecies are by false prophets. This level is the safest level to identify a false teacher from an honest error made by a preacher. So, you don’t use the whip for a false teacher or false prophet for an innocent offender. which I see people do.
My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment. 2 For we all stumble in many things. James 3:1-2
Keep our password safe; it has a 3-factor authentication for a reason. It’s an end-of-age safety. be safe!
